Charlyn Belluzzo, MBA PhD ScD
Dr. Belluzzo is an internationally-recognized global health expert, holding a doctorate in public health and tropical medicine. She has earned graduate degrees and post-graduate training from LaSalle University, the University of Colorado School of Business, Georgetown University School of Medicine and Tulane University of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.
Her professional passion is to promote human health and wellness, strengthen communities, generate economic prosperity and enrich the lives of the world’s most vulnerable.
Along with Dr. Belluzzo’s health/wellness experience and business management background, she has received extensive training and is certified in equine assisted experiential learning and development by the Equine Experiential Education Association (E3A).
George’s expertise includes leadership/coaching, team building, cross functional relationship optimization, strategic sourcing, vendor relationships, go to market & process improvement.
He has held similar roles with premier global brands like Levi Strauss, Quiksilver & & Roxy, Oakley and Gymboree. His experience extends across all apparel categories including knits & wovens, tops & bottoms for men, women’s & children. His teams have sourced and developed product for surf, skate, motor sports, work & sportswear. George has traveled to and sourced in over 30 countries across the Western Hemisphere, North & South Asia, the Middle East and parts of Europe & Africa.
George received my BA from California State University at Fullerton and an EMBA from Chapman University. He received the Deans Award for Outstanding MBA student and am a member of the National Society of Hispanic MBA’s. He recently obtained certification as an Equine Experiential Facilitator from the Equine Experiential Association and plan to use this to support individual and team development.
Erica Tom, MA PhD
Director of Performance Art and Movement Research
Erica Tom is a scholar, artist, and educator. Melding her expertise in language and communication with over twenty years of experience working with horses, Erica’s scholarly, artistic, and professional work bridges worlds situated along the boundaries of multiple disciplines. Whether in the classroom, boardroom, or pasture, she generates connection and productivity. As an American Studies ABD Doctoral Student at Rutgers University – Newark, Erica conducts ethnographic, literary, historical, and cultural research. Erica earned her BA in English Literature with a minor in Classical Studies from the University of Washington in 2007, and her MA in English Literature from Sonoma State University in 2012.
Erica is the Director of Performance Art and Movement Research at Belos Cavalos, where she facilitates artist’s creative processes with the herd, and organizes public art events. She is also working toward her certification in Equine Experiential Education.
Paul Axelrod, PhD
Learning and Development – Professional Training & Coaching
Dr. Paul Axelrod is an effective communicator and learning advocate with more than 12 years’ experience in healthcare administration, consulting and higher education. In addition to his role on the Belos Cavalos board of directors, Dr. Axelrod serves as a learning and development consultant at the University of California, San Francisco, and teaches at the University of San Francisco’s McLaren School of Management. He specializes in leadership development, organizational dynamics, professional coaching and mentoring, and experiential learning methods. He is also interested in mindfulness and other wellness-based approaches to personal and professional success.
Dr. Axelrod earned his BA in Political Science from the University of California Berkeley in 1990, and his PhD in Political Science from the University of Washington in 2000.
Personal, Professional, and Leadership Development
Jill Rivoli is an experienced leader in the field of Equine Assisted Learning having facilitated 7000 participants in professional and personal growth experiences with horses. She is certified through the Equine Experiential Education Association and the Equine Guided Education Association. Her Masters work is in experiential learning and leadership development and she is the Corporate Leadership Development Specialist for Carmel Valley Ranch in Carmel, CA.
Her career in management has spanned 20 years in both for and nonprofit organizations.
Jill’s passion is mindfulness and helping people learn better ways of living, thriving, and connecting. Horses have proven the most effective, fun, and fulfilling way to achieve this.
Business Management and Development
Cherie’ has specialized in commercial real estate analysis, sales, leasing and development, representing both Buyers and Sellers since 1985.
Throughout her career she has applied her real estate skills with numerous non-profit organizations with facility planning, acquisitions and dispositions. For almost 30 years, Cherie has supported her community at all levels of Board leadership in health related organizations, the AIDS Project of Contra Costa, Contra Costa Regional Health Foundation and The Wellness Community/Cancer Support Community SF Bay Area and National. The commitment to these organizations was to support the work these organizations do; making a difference in the quality of life of those served.
Cherie’ feels it is an honor and with gratitude to support the Belos Cavalos mission. Serving Belos Cavalos brings together her love and experience in youth of working with horses in the show arena to supporting the healing transformation that can take place through equine therapy.
Marketing, Community Outreach, and Fundraising
Lynn has spent 30 years in business focusing on technology that has had an impact on education, digital marketing and talent development initiatives. From the beginning of her career Lynn has kept center of mind the principles around people development. Whether it was helping K-12 institutions implement technology to enhance the effectiveness of teachers and students, or leading teams that worked with Fortune 100 clients and their talent and engagement initiatives, Lynn has been a passionate advocate for life-long learning and development. At the center of her value system is the belief that we all have the power to make a difference in this world and brings that passion and energy to advocate on behalf of Belos Cavalos.
Ron La Bruzzo
A Northern California native, Ron La Bruzzo has over 35 years’ experience in Banking and Finance. He has served as a member of several non-profit boards on the local, state and national level. Ron has worked in all capacities including, serving on the National Business Advisory Council and as an appointed advisory member for a state mental health agency. Currently, Ron is a member of the board of the Santa Rosa Symphony and is Chairman of the Finance Committee.
Serving on the board of Belos Cavalos is a tremendous honor for Ron. The work of Belos Cavalos makes our society stronger by giving back to our Communities through the love and healing of our horses.
Amin Kazemini, JD
Amin Kazemini is a Santa Rosa raised attorney with legal expertise in business planning and development. He is a member of the California State Bar Association, the Sonoma County Bar Association, and a frequent volunteer in the community as a local basketball coach. Mr. Kazemini graduated from the University of San Francisco in 2009 with a BS in Accounting and earned a JD from Empire College School of Law in 2013.
Amin Kazemini brings a strong work ethic and passion in his role with Belos Cavalos. He believes being a member of Belos Cavalos is a unique experience and privilege in helping them achieve their mission.
